5 Ways To Make Sure it’s not a Fake Autograph

You’ve finally found that perfect piece of memorabilia but how do you know it is genuine and not a fake autograph? Here are 5 ways to know that the autograph is genuine.

Buy from a reputable dealer

If you’re buying online have a look at their reviews and other stock they have. If you see 5-star-reviews and a selection of products it’s always a good sign.

Do your research

Remember, Google is your friend. Simply google e.g. Cristiano Ronaldo Signature and look at all the images you see. Does the product you want to buy look similar to the ones on the web? If it all looks good so far we’re halfway there.

Certificate of Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is an official document that proves to the buyer that the autograph or signature is genuine and authentic. It shows that the autograph is of quality, and guarantees the buyer that it is produced by the person in question. It ensures the buyer peace of mind as the dealer is responsible for its authenticity. 

Too good to be true

A signature can be sometimes a little bit too good if you know what I mean. Some unscrupulous dealers use an electronic autopen that copies a signature perfectly and signs an exact copy of their autograph. If you see multiple versions of the same signature in stock, this could be a sign they are using an autopen.
